As an alluring beauty, the Ninth Prince Qi Changyi inherited his mother’s looks, but was unfortunately a bit s*upid. Not only did he live in fear, even within palace walls, but he also merely lived as a substitute in his beloved’s eyes. Then, while being used and tormented, his delicate, pure heart finally burned to ashes.

Pei Zheng was the Prime Minister of the Imperial Court, a man of great status; he gained it all through the most ruthless methods. He was known for his cruel nature, but gradually, he became close to the unfavored ninth prince.

“Your Highness, just now, at court, who were you looking at? Huh?” Pei Zheng squeezed the small man’s delicate little chin.

Qi Changyi’s eyes were misty with tears of pain, “I, I wasn’t.”

“Stop trying to seduce others.” Pei Zheng’s voice was frigid. “Otherwise, I’ll make sure that General Zhao, for whom you pine, dies on the battlefield!”

He thought he had a firm grip on this little fool, but he could’ve never imagined that one day, this little fool would leave his side carrying a broken heart.

“Brother Pei, I’m leaving now, you should be happy.”

With scarlet eyes and a heart burning with obsession, he searched everywhere, but found no trace of him.

“I won’t, without you, I’ll never be happy again. Your Highness, where should I go, how can I bring you home?”

I recently finished this novel, and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, particularly if you're open to angsty stories with heartwarming conclusions. Initially, the toxic phase between the main characters might be challenging to read, but there are subtle hints of the male lead's growing affection, which keeps you hopeful for a sweeter future. The story is engaging, almost binge-worthy, as you anticipate the cute moments.

I'm glad I persevered, as the novel truly shines during the redemption arcs, which take up more than half of the book. The author takes the time to develop the male lead's character arc authentically, showing genuine growth and effort to win the love of the protagonist. This part of the story is what earned it all the stars I'm giving – the redemption process is both satisfying and well-executed. The author's focus on the MC's happiness and the male lead's sincere repentance was particularly touching.

Character development isn't limited to just the male lead; the female protagonist also undergoes significant growth. While some reviews criticize her, the novel provides context for her character traits, revealing a backstory that explains her actions. The supporting relationships are woven beautifully, adding entertainment to the story.

There's even a manga adaptation available, with slight modifications for a wider audience, and the artwork is stunning. I'm surprised to see reviews from those who haven't completed the novel, as their opinions might not accurately represent the story. If they had finished it, I believe their ratings would be higher.

Some reviews contain misinformation, like claiming the childhood friend was solely supportive or suggesting the MC's happiness依赖ed on him. Actually, the MC had a fulfilling ending with the male lead. Also, the idea that the pregnancy was used as leverage is incorrect; it was a genuine expression of love, not a manipulative tool.

In summary, this novel offers an engaging, well-developed story with a satisfying redemption arc and heartfelt moments. Give it a chance, and I believe you'll enjoy it.

I truly enjoyed this narrative and I'm eager to explore more. However, I must caution that some scenes might be sensitive for some readers, as there are no explicit romantic interactions between the main characters at present. It's delightful to see the Ninth Prince finally acknowledging and understanding his emotions. I'm very curious about their journey towards love – will he be vulnerable again, or will his feelings be returned? Will he turn to his childhood friend in case of rejection? The possibilities for the next chapter are intriguing. You can find this story on various platforms, but I recommend checking MangaFox for the latest updates!

Wow, I've never encountered such a spineless, emotionally-unstable character who constantly cries in response to any situation. No matter how harshly the self-centered, abusive main lead (ML) treats him, he blindly obeys, which is utterly ridiculous. The plot is so absurd that it's nauseating. At least the author could have made the misunderstandings somewhat bearable, instead of resorting to全员醉酒 scenarios. Frankly, I'm hoping for a change in the ML; a despicable one might be acceptable, but this one is just too愚蠢 to bear.

Hello, I'm the translator for this novel. Initially, I wrote a review some time ago, but unfortunately, my computer crashed, wiping out my work. Here's a revised version after reading through the main story and peeking at a few extras. My opinion on the novel has significantly changed. Initially, I found the first arc decent, but as time went on, my view of the story declined.

This novel shares similarities with "Paper Flower" in terms of its themes. There's a particular scene where the protagonist attempts suicide by jumping off a cliff, which might be a trigger for those who didn't enjoy that novel.

The main character is quite pitiful, portrayed as obedient, small, and weak. His frequent association with a milk-like scent raises concerns. The author seems to infantalize him for an endearing effect, which can border on creepy. Despite the time skip, he maintains a childlike demeanor, often justified by his past trauma. However, this becomes less endearing as it progresses. Most of his character revolves around being a victim.

The male lead is abusive and has a tragic backstory, but it doesn't justify his actions. He eventually undergoes some character development late in the story, but his forgiveness comes too easily. In the beginning, he subjects the protagonist to harsh treatment, exploiting their age gap and the protagonist's mental state. He confines him, forces tattoos, and tries to force a marriage alliance.

Side characters, though aware of the abuse, lack genuine efforts to help. For instance, when the protagonist's childhood friend rescues him, they ultimately succumb to the male lead's presence. Additionally, the novel's villains receive minimal consequences despite their extreme wickedness.

I also have issues with the secondary relationships. The doctor and the male lead's bodyguard had potential, but they don't get enough screen time. The second side couple involving the childhood friend and a later character feels forced, as the childhood friend ends up with a clone-like character who is even more pitiful.

Lastly, the pacing is problematic, with major plot points rushed or underdeveloped. Characters are introduced and dismissed abruptly, like disposable elements in the repetitive narrative. For example, the crown prince, initially portrayed as a significant antagonist, disappears quickly within a few chapters.

Overall, this novel is frustrating, especially for fans of the genre. It's not one I would recommend, especially for those sensitive to certain themes. The constant annoyance and frustration might make it suitable for a drinking game challenge, but I wouldn't encourage it.

If you're considering reading this novel, I suggest starting with the Manhua. From my personal experience, the story evokes strong emotions, particularly anger, towards the main character (MC). The male lead (ML) consistently disregards the MC's feelings, assuming the worst and causing him continuous pain. It's disheartening and frustrating to watch the MC repeatedly suffer at the hands of the one he loves. The ML exploits the MC for his own benefit, intentionally putting him in harmful situations without explanation, only to express affection and then hurt him anew. When the MC is hurt, the ML simply returns, and the MC forgives him, which adds to the emotional turmoil.

All the reviews are accurate, yet I deducted one star because the first part of the book was exceptional. It showcased cleverness, political intrigue, and I must admit, I found Pei Zheng (the male lead, ML) intriguing despite his flaws. He can be possessive, selfish, and even abusive towards the main character (MC), while being cold and distant with others. His redeeming qualities are scarce (though more are present in the manga adaptation).

The MC's childhood brain injury contributes to his perceived slowness, but it doesn't justify his passive behavior. However, I chose to overlook this aspect since Pei Zheng's character ultimately piqued my interest.

Unfortunately, the story begins to decline when Shen Huan enters the scene, despite her initial appeal as a non-horrible female character. While Shen Huan herself is decent, the plot loses its momentum and becomes repetitive, which spoils the overall experience.

I highly recommend reading the manga adaptation instead of the novel, but if you're a fan of the manga, the novel offers additional depth. Many events are exclusive to the book, and it provides multiple perspectives, particularly the male lead's, which enhances understanding of their relationship dynamics. The novel's exploration of the ML's thoughts and feelings, often kept mysterious in the manga, is quite engaging.

The extra content featuring the main couple was a delightful treat, especially after all the events in the story. A spoiler alert: their loving little family, with its precious child, tugs at your heartstrings. The interactions between the MC, ML, and their child are incredibly heartwarming.

While some reviews criticize the MC, I assure you, he isn't your typical one-dimensional protagonist. Initially, due to his vulnerability and limitations, he may seem useless, but as the story progresses, he matures rapidly and becomes proactive. He earns respect, becomes a renowned doctor, supports his loved ones, saves his tribe from an outbreak, and even saves the ML's life multiple times. So, don't let harsh opinions sway you.

His character isn't a victim, but rather a survivor. The author throws numerous challenges at him, causing him to experience hardships and depression, but he perseveres. His character is refreshingly human, with both flaws and redeeming qualities that make him relatable. Overall, he embodies the complexities of a real person, which I find quite compelling.

I persisted in reading despite growing tired of it, hoping for a change, but alas, none came. You wouldn't comprehend my frustration, unless you've experienced it yourself. The main characters are shockingly one-dimensional, with the protagonist being a weak princess with a short emotional memory, akin to a gnat. The love interest, metaphorically speaking, resembles a heartless Jafar from Aladdin, lacking character growth.

The ML (main love interest) is an unrepentant jerk, having lost the MC once, felt remorse, and vowed to be better. However, his manipulative tendencies and gaslighting remain unchanged. It's infuriating that his occasional displays of affection pale in comparison to his constant manipulation of the MC, who struggles with mental disabilities.

The author exploits the MC's vulnerabilities, making them forget traumatic events and trivializing their issues, which is utterly unjustifiable. This treatment, especially considering the MC's condition, pushes me to despise both the ML and the author.

In summary, any good intentions the ML may have had towards the MC are nullified by his gaslighting behavior. The MC's naivety regarding the world's color, tinted as it is with rose-colored glasses, adds to my annoyance. It's frustrating that they fail to recognize the reality around them, especially after experiencing abuse. My emotions are deeply invested in expressing my complete disapproval of this story.
